TL;DR

The brace-expansion parser can produce excessive intermediate output when handling certain crafted brace patterns, growing memory and CPU use well beyond what the input size would suggest. A malformed or deeply repeated brace sequence can force the parser to keep expanding before returning, delaying callers on a single call. The fix bounds the parser's internal expansion to prevent this unchecked growth.

Who does this affect?

You are affected if you are using a version that falls within the vulnerable range.
