net-ssh is vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS)
58
Medium Risk
Net::SSH::Transport::ServerVersion#read! appends every byte received from the server to @version, then to @header, one at a time until it sees a newline, with no maximum length on either buffer. A malicious server that sends an identification line without a trailing newline forces the client to keep buffering indefinitely before authentication, growing memory without limit. The fix caps the identification string length and disconnects once it is exceeded.
You are affected if you are using a version that falls within the vulnerable range and you connect to an SSH server that is malicious or compromised.
net-ssh is vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS) in versions 0.0.1 - 7.3.4.
