hickory-net is vulnerable to Improper Verification of Cryptographic Signature
37
Low Risk
DNSSEC validation does not sufficiently distinguish a NODATA response from a positive response produced by wildcard expansion. For a query that should yield NODATA in a zone that has wildcard records, an adversary can combine a matching NSEC3 record, a wildcard-named record, and its signature into a bogus positive response that validation accepts. When the query name is proven to exist, wildcard expansion should not be accepted. The fix rejects wildcard-expanded answers in this case.
You are affected if you are using a version that falls within the vulnerable range and you have DNSSEC validation enabled
