TL;DR

With the wolfSSL backend and CA caching, a CURLOPT_SSL_CTX_FUNCTION callback that replaces the trust store can have the cached store installed again after the callback returns. A certificate the callback store would reject is then accepted because the cached store trusts it. The fix does not reinstall the cached store after the callback.

Who does this affect?

You are affected if you are using a version that falls within the vulnerable range and you use wolfSSL with CA caching and CURLOPT_SSL_CTX_FUNCTION.

Background info

libcurl is vulnerable to Improper Certificate Validation in versions 8.9.1 - 8.21.0.

How to fix this
