hickory-net is vulnerable to Improper Verification of Cryptographic Signature
78
High Risk
The NSEC3 covering-record check uses inverted relational operators in its wrap-around branch. When an NSEC3 record's owner hash sorts after its next hashed owner name, the code treats the record as covering every hash except its own owner. A wrap-around NSEC3 record and its signature obtained from a victim zone can then be used to forge negative responses. This allows forgery of proofs of nonexistence. The fix corrects the comparison.
