thrift is vulnerable to Memory Corruption
87
High Risk
writeVarint32() encodes a header field into a fixed 5-byte stack buffer by shifting a signed 32-bit value. A negative value keeps its sign bit through every shift, so the loop never stops and writes past the buffer. The fix encodes an unsigned copy of the value so the loop stays inside the 5-byte buffer.
You are affected if you are using a version that falls within the vulnerable range and you serialize THeader frames whose protocol id can be a negative value.
thrift is vulnerable to Memory Corruption in versions 0.10.0 - 0.24.0.
