TL;DR

The validator authenticates an RRset by fetching the DNSKEY RRset for whatever name appears in the RRSIG Signer's Name field, without verifying that the signer name is the zone containing the RRset as required by RFC 4035. An adversary who controls any secure zone can produce a valid signature and have it accepted over records in unrelated zones. This allows cross-zone forgery of arbitrary records. The fix checks the RRSIG signer name against the RRset's zone.

Who does this affect?

You are affected if you are using a version that falls within the vulnerable range and you have DNSSEC validation enabled
