@bufbuild/protobuf is vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS)
53
Medium Risk
sizeDelimitedDecodeStream() in @bufbuild/protobuf buffers every incoming chunk of a size delimited stream into one growing array with no limit on the advertised frame size. An unauthenticated peer can send a varint header that declares a frame of several gigabytes followed by a continuous byte stream, causing unbounded memory growth that exhausts server RAM. The fix caps the buffered frame size so an oversized advertised length is rejected before that much memory is allocated.
You are affected if you are using a version that falls within the vulnerable range and you decode size delimited protobuf streams with sizeDelimitedDecodeStream().
@bufbuild/protobuf is vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS) in versions 0.0.1 - 2.12.1.
