TL;DR

The DNS-over-QUIC server reads a length prefix and pre-allocates a buffer of that size before the full request body arrives, and it enforces no timeout for receiving the remaining bytes. A remote client can open many connections and send only large length prefixes to force large allocations and hold streams open. This leads to remote memory and resource exhaustion. The fix bounds the allocation and adds a read timeout.

Who does this affect?

You are affected if you are using a version that falls within the vulnerable range and you run a server with DNS-over-QUIC enabled
