libcurl is vulnerable to Improper Certificate Validation
37
Low Risk
The curl command line tool leaves SSH host options unset when a URL has no scheme and --proto-default is sftp or scp. Those options include CURLOPT_SSH_HOST_PUBLIC_KEY_SHA256 and CURLOPT_SSH_KNOWNHOSTS. libcurl still connects with that default protocol, so the transfer accepts an unverified SSH host. The fix sets the SSH host options when the default protocol is sftp or scp.
You are affected if you are using a version that falls within the vulnerable range and you run the curl tool with --proto-default set to sftp or scp on a URL with no scheme.
libcurl is vulnerable to Improper Certificate Validation in versions 7.81.0 - 8.20.0.
