imageio-dds is vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS)
65
Medium Risk
TwelveMonkeys' DDS reader (DDSHeader.addDimensions) allocates a Dimension[] array sized directly from the dwMipMapCount header field, with no upper bound or remaining stream length check. A crafted 38-byte DDS file can set dwMipMapCount to a large value, causing a multi gigabyte allocation and an OutOfMemoryError that terminates the JVM. Any application that calls ImageIO.read() on an untrusted image is affected, since TwelveMonkeys registers this reader as an ImageIO SPI plugin. The fix validates mipMapCount against a sane cap before allocating the dimensions array.
You are affected if you are using a version that falls within the vulnerable range and you use ImageIO.read() to decode DDS images from untrusted sources.
imageio-dds is vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS) in versions 0.0.1 - 3.14.0.
