geminabox is vulnerable to Path Traversal
60
Medium Risk
geminabox builds the filename on disk for an uploaded gem from the name field inside the gem's own spec, without validating that name. A gem whose spec declares a name containing ../ writes a file outside the gems directory, and the shipped config.ru runs without authentication so both POST /api/v1/gems and POST /upload accept this by default. The fix rejects uploads whose name does not match RubyGems' own VALID_NAME_PATTERN or does not equal its own basename.
You are affected if you are using a version that falls within the vulnerable range.
geminabox is vulnerable to Path Traversal in versions 0.0.1 - 3.1.0 and 4.0.0 - 4.0.0.
