plank/laravel-mediable is vulnerable to Unrestricted Upload of File with Dangerous Type
98
Critical Risk
The forbidden_extensions denylist in config/mediable.php blocks .phtml and .phpt uploads but omits .pht, even though Apache's default FilesMatch directive on Debian and Ubuntu executes .pht files as PHP. An uploaded file named with a .pht extension passes MediaUploader::verifyExtension() and File::sanitizeFileName() unblocked and is written to disk, where the web server then executes it as PHP with the server process's privileges. This is an incomplete fix for the extension denylist added for CVE-2026-49972. The patch adds pht to the denylist.
You are affected if you are using a version that falls within the vulnerable range and your web server executes uploaded .pht files as PHP, for example Apache's default FilesMatch configuration on Debian and Ubuntu.
