thrift is vulnerable to Improper Certificate Validation
69
Medium Risk
TSSLSocket::authorize matches dNSName subjectAltName entries against the connected hostname, and when none match it still accepts the certificate Common Name. A certificate that carries unrelated subjectAltName names and a Common Name for the target host therefore passes hostname verification. The fix ignores the Common Name when a dNSName subjectAltName is present.
You are affected if you are using a version that falls within the vulnerable range and you use the default C++ client TLS hostname verification.
thrift is vulnerable to Improper Certificate Validation in versions 0.7.0 - 0.24.0.
